Introducing Entity Performance Analytics: Measure the Impact of Your Entities in Search

Reading Time: 5 minutes

As search engines become increasingly entity-focused, so must your content strategy. Today’s SEO landscape is shaped by entities, the core topics, people, products, and concepts that search engines use to organize information and match content to user intent.

But while entities have become central to how content is understood and surfaced by machines, SEOs have lacked a clear way to measure their impact. How does a specific topic influence clicks? Which entities are driving traffic? Where should content teams focus next, based on what they want to be known for?

Schema App’s new Entity Performance Analytics tool was built to answer these questions.

What is Entity Performance Analytics?

Entity Performance Analytics (EPA) is a powerful performance reporting tool within Schema App’s Entity Hub. It provides SEO teams with data and visualizations that show how their website’s entities are performing in search.

Entity Performance Analytics Entity Performance Overview

Unlike most SEO reporting tools, EPA gives users the ability to analyze search performance through the lens of entities. By combining the entities identified through Schema App’s Entity Linking feature and Google Search Console metrics, users can view, compare, and analyze the performance of content tied to specific entities, helping them align their content with market trends and business goals.

For SEOs that have been investing in Schema Markup and entity linking, EPA provides the missing piece. It is a way to connect your entity optimization work directly to measurable SEO outcomes.

What Information Can I Find Within Entity Performance Analytics?

Entity Performance Analytics offers multiple views to give you a full picture of how your content entities are performing:

Entity Coverage

Entity Performance Analytics Entity Coverage Dashboard

The Entity Coverage section reveals how comprehensively your website is marked up with externally linked entities for the webpages that have performance data from Google Search Console within the selected date range. This helps you gauge the depth of your structured data coverage and identify areas on your website where external entity linking can be applied to support search visibility.

Entity Performance Overview

Entity Performance Overview

The Entity Performance Overview section provides a summary of an entity’s performance, including clicks, impressions, and click-through rate (CTR) for URLs where the entity appears during a selected time period.

We’ve also included three interactive word clouds that showcase the top 100 entities, ranked by URL count, based on their clicks, impressions, and click-through rates. These visualizations help you quickly assess which entities are gaining the most visibility and engagement, and whether your content aligns with the topics your organization wants to be known for.

Anomalies

EPA also identifies sudden spikes or dips in entity performance to uncover issues or opportunities. The Anomaly Detection blocks summarize the most recent anomalies based on:

  • Metric (clicks, impressions, average CTR)
  • Entity (group of URLs where a specific entity was identified)

Anomaly detection will run every week to assess whether new anomalies have been identified based on your historical data.

Performance of Entities Over Time

This section enables you to track the performance of individual entities over time. Use this section to compare the performance of individual entities of interest, and to access a breakdown of individual URL performance for pages that contain the selected entities.

What Can You Do With Entity Performance Analytics?

Entity Performance Analytics empowers SEO and content teams to unlock new strategic insights by using entities as a performance lens. Here’s how you can put it to work:

Measure Entity ROI Using SEO Metrics

EPA allows you to see how the entities on your website impact key search performance metrics, including clicks, impressions, and click-through rate (CTR). This visibility helps you understand which entities are driving the most traffic and engagement, allowing you to clearly demonstrate the value of your entity-driven SEO strategy.

Identify High-Impact Content & Entity Optimization Opportunities

With more granular entity-based data, you can easily find underperforming entities or topics that could benefit from additional content or optimization. The entity comparison data can also help you identify topics that are gaining traction or declining, enabling your team to focus their efforts on updates and enhancements that are more likely to drive meaningful improvements in search visibility and traffic.

Entity Performance Analytics helps you align your content strategy with what’s working in search so you can communicate ROI with confidence.

Communicate Results Clearly and Effectively

Whether you’re presenting to leadership or collaborating across teams, EPA’s visual dashboards make it easy to showcase how entity-based strategies are impacting performance, without the need for complex data analysis or manual reporting.
