Case Study #1
National US Retailer and E-commerce Company
Agency working with consumer goods retailer wanted to add schema markup to their entire website but had limited access to IT resources to implement it.
Problem
The agency had a lack of expertise in Schema Markup and limited access to IT resources. In order to win the deal, they needed to be able to show tangible results of adding schema markup.
Results
- Optimized 6062 pages with Schema Markup, for Products, Images, Locations, and Questions and Answers
- 100’s of Rich Results, Answer Boxes and Knowledge Graphs in Search
- Significant increase in organic traffic, reduced bounce rate, and increased time on page
- Low IT involvement to get results – both in setup and maintenance
Solution
The agency decided to get buy in to add schema markup to 50% of products and locations to measure impact to inform the value of a full roll-out. To add schema markup at scale, with accuracy and little to no IT resources, and the ability to measure impact, they leveraged Schema App’s Bulk Upload, Automatic deployment, and Semantic Analytics.
Schema App’s Bulk upload provided the ability to send product and location data to Schema App in tsv format and be uploaded and converted into error free JSON-LD Markup. Once uploaded, manual edits could be made to the markup if desired.
In order to reduce the burden on the IT team, the retailer used Schema App’s integration with Google Tag Manager. The result was that the IT team only had to make one change (total time <1 hour) in Google Tag Manager and the schema markup could be deployed to any page on the website.
Finally, leveraging Schema Apps Semantic Analytics, they could see the impact of adding schema markup to their pages. Semantic Analytics allowed them to compare the web analytics for pages with schema markup, and those without. The result was that pages with schema markup had a significantly higher time on page and a reduced bounce rate. In addition, they could look to see if a specific property of a product, for example, colour impacted overall conversion rate. This information was used to inform promotions and website position in e-commerce store. In addition to Schema App’s Semantic Analytics, the team also monitored search engine results for rich snippets and captured the before and after results.
Case Study #2
Asia Pacific National Health Organization
National health organization needed to optimize their health specific content to be found by their nation’s residents.
Problem
They needed a team based tool, that would allow their content team, not developers, add schema markup to each article, using the schema.org Health and Life Sciences medical vocabulary. In the ideal world, the solution would automate most of the process, allowing the team to focus on creating and optimizing new content instead of doing manual tasks.
Results
- 942 optimized “Medical Webpages” across four websites with Schema Markup
- Increased organic traffic and rich results in search
- Increased team productivity compared to doing schema markup manually
- Low IT involvement to get results – both in setup and maintenance
- Better results from team collaboration and reduced risk associated with attrition due to central management and consistent process for doing markup
Solution
The national health organization adopted Schema App’s platform to create schema markup, automatically generating code and deploy it to their different sites. In order to increase their productivity and save time, the team used Schema App’s integration with Google Tag Manager. The result was that the IT team only had to make one change (total time <1 hour) in Google Tag Manager on each of their websites, and the schema markup could be deployed to any page on the website in seconds.
Now, whenever they create a new content page, related to a medical condition or symptom, they go to Schema App and create the related Schema Markup. All team members and view and edit each other’s work, and monitor Schema App’s notifications on when updates need to be made.
